Since 1849, St. Joseph Children’s Home has provided a home to more than 70,000 children throughout the community, 60,000 of whom were orphans in every sense of the word. The families currently served have changed since then, but the mission remains the same: “Giving Children a Home.” Today, these children have been removed from their homes due to neglect, abuse, domestic violence and substance abuse. They have been denied innocent childhood years, and in many cases the basic needs of life. At St. Joe’s, they learn self-reliance and responsibility, and are offered compassion and counseling to prepare them to return to their biological families, or be placed with foster care or adoptive families. St. Joseph Children's Home is located at 2823 Frankfort Avenue in Louisville, KY 40206. For more information call 502-893-0241 or visit

“Because of St. Joseph Children's Home, hundreds of children have been offered a loving environment in which to learn, an atmosphere where a vulnerable child finds hope and security during times of family crises, and most importantly, offers a future for that child. If it were not for the passion of each individual who works and donates their time to St. Joe's, these children would be left alone, afraid and without a home. Everyone on our committee believes that to touch the life of a child is to change the future for all of us.”
Ms. Stacey and Mr. Jay Finster, Chairpersons, Feathers & Diamonds
“Without the thoughtfulness of Stacey and Jay Finster, combined with the generous support of all the sponsors for Feathers & Diamonds, we would be unable to provide services to the neediest children in Kentucky.”
